Many schools use Canvas (Instructure) to post assignments, due dates, and tests. Canvas can generate a personal calendar feed link for your child that includes every assignment on their calendar. Connect it once, and new assignments start showing up in ParentSync automatically — no re-copying required after the first time.
1. Log in to Canvas
Log in to your child's Canvas account at their school's Canvas address (usually something like yourschool.instructure.com). Do this in a web browser on a computer rather than the Canvas mobile app — the calendar feed link is easiest to find there.
If you have your own Canvas Observer (parent) account linked to your child, you can use that instead — the steps below are the same.
2. Open the Calendar
Click Calendar in the left-hand navigation menu.
3. Find the Calendar Feed link
On the calendar page, look at the right-hand sidebar, below the list of your child's classes. Near the bottom, click Calendar Feed — it's easy to miss, since it's small text rather than a button.
A window will pop up titled Calendar Feed, with a link that looks something like:
https://yourschool.instructure.com/feeds/calendars/user_XXXXXXXXXXXX
4. Copy the link
Click into the text box — Canvas automatically highlights the whole link — then copy it (Ctrl+C on Windows, Cmd+C on Mac).
Treat this link like a password. Anyone who has it can view your child's assignment calendar without logging in, so don't post it anywhere public — just paste it directly into ParentSync.
5. Add it to ParentSync
In ParentSync, open Connections → Calendars, click Add a calendar, choose Canvas / iCal link, paste the link in, and select which child it belongs to. Assignments and due dates from Canvas will start appearing on your ParentSync calendar and to-do list, usually within a few minutes.
Got more than one kid on Canvas?
Repeat these steps for each child. The calendar feed link is unique to whoever is logged in to Canvas at the time, so you'll need to grab it once per child, from that child's own Canvas login (or their own linked Observer account).
Troubleshooting
I don't see "Calendar Feed" anywhere. Make sure you're on the main Calendar page, not a single class page, and check the full right-hand sidebar — you may need to scroll. If your school has customized Canvas's layout, ask their IT help desk for the "calendar feed" or "iCal feed" URL directly.
Nothing showed up in ParentSync after adding the link. Calendar feeds refresh periodically rather than instantly, so give it a few minutes. If it's still empty, go back to Canvas and re-copy the link — using Click to view Calendar Feed instead of copying the text box can sometimes grab the wrong value.
The link stopped working. Canvas can issue a new feed link if your child's password is reset or their account is recreated. If assignments stop updating one day, grab a fresh link from Canvas and re-add it.
Not using Canvas?
Other platforms work the same way. Google Classroom, Seesaw, and most sports and activity scheduling platforms also offer a calendar link you can subscribe to — look for "calendar feed," "subscribe," "export," or "iCal" in their calendar settings, then add it in ParentSync exactly as above.
